It's possible - and common - to learn more in three days at a conference than in three weeks at an office. Knowledge management professionals should be glad to hear, then, that the 2008 Knowledge Management International Conference is coming up.
Sponsors include the Knowledge Management Professional Society, the Journal of Knowledge Management, and Logic Programming Associates. Datuk Dr. Halim, the Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, and Dr. Dan Kirsch, the COO for the Knowledge Management Professional Society, are the scheduled keynote speakers.
The conference's main theme is "Transferring, Managing and Maintaining Knowledge for Nation Capacity Development." The first full day of isn't until Tuesday, June 10th, so no immediate rushing-around is necessary. The conference is being held in Malaysia, though, so would-be attendees won't want to leave travel arrangements until the last minute.
As for one other potential sticking point - prices - a reasonable $650 will get a single person in the door and set with lunches and refreshments.
This seems like a great opportunity to both catch up on the latest knowledge management trends and visit a nice area. Find out a lot and have fun if you go.
