Actian Corporation has just announced that it has signed an agreement with Numsight, a marketing corporation which relies on knowledge management for targeted marketing. The agreement was signed so that they could both analyze large databases at a lower cost.
Numsight provides consulting, and other services based on customer knowledge management and targeted marketing. Most of the company's clients are large corporations who rely on an exorbitant amount of data to process. The French IT division of the company provides database services and software solutions, and is the major player in the agree. They're partnering with Actian's Vectorwise analytic database to bring down the costs of projects.
Numsight terminated its agreement with a previous partner. Due to performance testing and price comparison, to decide to partner with Actian and their database solutions.
Laurent Descamps, head of Numsight Information Services, said this of the partnership, "The huge amount of data accumulated by our customers on a daily basis demands a powerful, high-speed analytical database engine. The market for this type of solution is extremely limited, and prices are very high. Vectorwise database technology features vector-based processing, delivering astounding performance at an extremely competitive price. Actian also convinced us by the quality of support, and responsiveness and efficiency of its teams, who did everything to ensure the job of combining our solution with Vectorwise was completed without a hitch"
Christian Raza, Head of Sales France for Actian Vectorwise, also had a positive reaction, "Usually, the upfront cost of deploying an analytical database is so high that some reporting and analytics projects never even see the light of the day, simply because they cannot deliver an acceptable return on investment. By offering markedly better performance than competing solutions using equivalent resources, Vectorwise clearly stands out as the most cost-efficient analytic database. The overall cost of the solution is lower, leading to much higher margins for partners"
This is definitely one of the biggest partnerships in the knowledge management sector in quite some time. It will be interesting to see how this partnership will affect both corporations, and how their databases are utilized to fulfill the needs of their clients.
